Earing Piercing
Dear Myia,
It is Friday, August 11, 2017.
Over the last few days, your mother and I have had several conversations about piercing your ears.
As of today, you will be turning five months next Monday, August 14, 2017. Some of the family suggested we have delayed this process and should have been done weeks earlier.
There is also a debate about where to take you to get your piercing done. Some suggested the hospital while others the jewelry shop.
Consequently, we resigned to getting your Grandma Felicia's help. As a nurse and your best buddy , we scheduled an appointment early this morning as I dropped your mother to work. The appointment is set for 2:00 pm in Sinkor.
When I got back home, I contemplated the pain you might endure. It is these moments that the parent's instinct naturally overwhelmed a person. "If only I could take the pain for you," I pondered. Your mother also shared this sentiment.
I got you dressed around noon. This experience is unique since your mother is not around to guide me about what color and style for you to wear :)
Your nurse - Irene, also helped in getting you ready. We loaded the car. You look so cute and oblivious to what was about to happen today. As we left the house, grandma Felicia called to check on our location as she was about to leave work as well. She was meeting us there.
Myia, your daddy cannot be in the same room with you getting a shot or anything that will make you cry (good or bad). So grandma Felicia is in charged of this process :)
At S.D. Cooper's Junction, there is as serious traffic. So, I doubled back towards the SKD Sports Complex and took a decoy. At this time, you are hungry as we woke you up to get ready for this trip. Irene fixed you a 'hot plate' and fed you. The challenged is driving the bumpy dirt road while you had your lunch.
We made it to Congo Town backroad and easily to Sinkor where grandma Felicia patiently waited in front of the jewelry store. We got your out of the car seat, and she took you inside. We did not get to say our goodbye and best wishes but a thousand prayers - wishing you all the best - was already in place.
As I sat in the car, I wondered what was happening and if the process had begun. Your nurse approached the car, and my mind could not find the meaning of her presence without you. She informed me that it would cost $10.00. I gave her the cash, and she went back inside the jewelry shop.
In less than ten minutes, I saw Irene returning. She presented me with several earrings sets. Like your grandma Felicia, I have a thing for green. I picked the green. So you know, as you grow, we will be flexible to you picking the color you like once we spot signs of what interest you.
The process is over, and grandma returned you to the car. You looked so .....no!. You are beautiful my baby.
We buckled you up and left Sinkor.
We dropped Irene at her junction in Sinkor (also). As you sat in the backseat alone, I made noises to make sure you did not feel alone. Like all babies, a driving car does the trick as you were fast asleep.

We picked up your mother who sat in the backseat with you as we drove home.
